JENNY GUY, LPC-MHSP
Jenny obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts as well as a Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. While obtaining her degree, she participated in preliminary research and education in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) with an emphasis on determining the importance of utilizing one’s personal and individual spirituality in treatment.
Most recently, Jenny served as the Director of Outpatient Services for Focus Treatment Centers in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she has worked with individuals, families and groups struggling with substance use and eating disorders for the past seven years. Jenny uses interpersonal and values based approaches to encourage and invite students to identify and utilize their inner strength.
Jenny works full time as a Licensed Professional Counselor, her focus is to foster hope in the face of adversity when working with students as they navigate the many stages of their personal and educational life. She works to develop a genuine collaboration and sees herself as an ally in the counseling relationship, coming alongside patients to support the development of their personal values and beliefs that will foster growth and healing.
Jenny enjoys spending time with her family and pets, participating in any activity that will take her outdoors and practicing self-sustainable living.
JULIA FLANAGAN, LPC
Julia is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia and Tennessee. She came to Dalton State in the Fall 2019 after a career in private practice. She holds a Masters in Counseling from Georgia State University, a Masters in Advertising from University of Alabama, and a Bachelors in Marketing from Mississippi State University.
With over 20 years of experience in the counseling field, Julia would best be described as enthusiastic, encouraging, optimistic, and creative with a never-give-up attitude. She uses a systemic, holistic approach with cognitive behavioral interventions and has a wide range of specialties in trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, and career coaching. She is interested in helping the total you whether you are just transitioning from home to college, figuring out how to manage your time between school, friends, and a job, or counting down the days to graduation!
If possible, Julia would have every therapy session on a screen porch. She is a Tennessee Naturalist, scuba diver, hiker, and gardener. And she enjoys painting, photography, and crafting.
